Patrick Atkinson - President and Founder
After graduating from Northern Illinois University in 1983 he joined C.P.S., a large recruiting firm in Westchester, Illinois. After three years of recruiting for manufacturing related positions, he left as a section manager. He then joined a start-up firm called Search Centre Inc. in Downers Grove, Illinois as Director of recruiting. He hired, trained and managed a staff of recruiters working in the fields of Actuarial, Benefits and Compensation. Clients consisted of insurance companies, big 8 accounting firms, multinational corporations and consulting firms. He maintained his own desk and continued to work as a recruiter throughout his tenure there.

In July of 1990 Patrick and his brother Neil opened Waterford Executive Group in St. Charles, Illinois. The firm specialized in benefits and compensation openings, both in corporate as well as consulting firms. Patrick became sole owner in January of 1992 and relocated the firm to the current location in Winfield, Illinois. While he does manage the overall functions of the firm and its associates, he actively recruits on client assignments and continually looks for new client opportunities. In addition to his several speaking engagements he has produced and marketed an instructional video on interviewing tips for job seekers. The video, "Power Interviewing- A Headhunter's guide to getting hired in the 90's", has sold several thousand copies in North America and Europe.

What can the Candidate expect?
Given the current market demand for most all professionals, is it necessary to contact a search firm to consider job opportunities? Isn't there a shortage of candidates for virtually all industries? Why would anyone go through a recruiter to make a job change? Wouldn't the placement fee be considered an impediment and possibly reduce a candidate's potential salary or signing bonus?

These are typical questions running through the minds of potential job seekers. In many cases a recruiter is not contacted or utilized. Yet, there are several compelling reasons to listen to the next recruiting call. Potential job seekers may think they are aware of all the opportunities out there, still there may be something well worth their attention that has not been advertised or uncovered at the water cooler. Additionally, there are many specific questions about a position that could be answered by a recruiter before an interview takes place, which may either increase or decrease a candidate's interest level beforehand, possibly preventing a wasted trip to the Company. Finally, it may be helpful to have the assistance of a recruiter as an intermediary while negotiating salary, benefits, vacation etc. For the people that are uncomfortable with these discussions it may be difficult to state their well-deserved demands. Recruiter fees are typically paid out of separate budgets and have already been dedicated before a recruiting call is ever made.

What can the Client expect?
In the competitive world of executive search it is imperative to operate in a highly specialized manner, and to develop an expertise in a limited number of functions or positions. Additionally, clients expect recruiting firms to provide insight into the marketplace and consultation as to the "Best Practices" for attracting and retaining valuable personnel, which is exactly what they get.

We not only agree with these tenets but we embrace them with enthusiasm. When our search firm is engaged, we look at the relationship with our client as a partnership. Once an assignment is accepted, we look to the client for relevant information and cooperation. No search assignment can be successfully completed in a timely manner without this vender/client partnering. Our extensive list of current and former clients can attest to our success in filling crucial needs expeditiously. Please take a moment to review a sampling of our current and former clients below.
